Tooth Extraction at Yash Dental Clinic

About Tooth Extraction

Tooth extraction is performed only when a tooth truly cannot be saved by any other treatment — severe decay, fracture, advanced gum disease, impacted wisdom teeth, or orthodontic crowding. Dr. Pharande performs extractions with precision and minimal trauma, using effective anaesthesia so you feel nothing. Post-extraction care and tooth replacement options are always discussed immediately after, so you know exactly what comes next.

At Yash Dental Clinic, every procedure is performed by Dr. Vaishali S. Pharande — a dental surgeon with over 32 years of hands-on experience. Your comfort and safety are the absolute priority throughout your treatment.

Healthy Habits for Faster Healing & Lifelong Smiles

Protecting your teeth begins with understanding daily habits. Here are proven care guidelines from Dr. Vaishali S. Pharande to avoid recurring dental problems and ensure rapid recovery.

🪥

Gentle 2-Minute Brushing & Flossing

Brush twice daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush using gentle circular motions. Never scrub aggressively, which erodes enamel and gums. Floss once daily before bed to remove hidden plaque.

💧

Stay Hydrated & Warm Saline Rinses

Water washes away food particles and maintains natural saliva flow. After any procedure, gentle warm salt water rinses reduce swelling and accelerate gum tissue healing naturally.

🍏

Avoid Sugary Habits & Tobacco

Frequent sugary snacks and carbonated drinks nourish decay-causing bacteria. Avoid smoking or chewing tobacco, which severely weakens bone support and slows surgical recovery.

Your Questions Answered

FAQs — Tooth Extraction

No — the extraction is performed under local anaesthesia, which numbs the area completely. You will feel pressure and movement but no pain. After the anaesthesia wears off (usually 2–4 hours later), mild soreness is normal and easily managed with paracetamol or ibuprofen. Dr. Pharande's gentle technique minimises post-extraction discomfort significantly.

The gum tissue closes over the socket within 1–2 weeks. The bone underneath takes 2–3 months to fully heal. Most patients return to normal eating and activity within 2–3 days. Following post-extraction instructions — no smoking, no straws, gentle rinsing — ensures smooth, complication-free healing.

Dry socket (alveolar osteitis) occurs when the blood clot in the extraction socket dislodges or dissolves prematurely, exposing bone. It causes significant pain starting 3–5 days after extraction. To avoid it: do not smoke, do not use straws, do not spit forcefully, and avoid hard or crunchy foods for 24 hours. If you experience increasing pain after day 3, call us immediately.

As soon as possible — ideally within a few months. After extraction, the adjacent and opposing teeth begin drifting into the gap, altering your bite. The jawbone in the gap also begins to resorb. Options include a dental implant (best long-term), a bridge, or a partial denture. Dr. Pharande will discuss all options with you before the extraction.

It depends on the position and eruption of the tooth. Fully erupted wisdom teeth are removed like any other molar. Partially erupted or impacted wisdom teeth may require a minor surgical procedure. Dr. Pharande will take an X-ray to assess the tooth and explain exactly what the procedure involves before proceeding.
